The first version of my personal website was a combination of HTML and PHP with jQuery/AJAX-driven functionality. I chose to adopt a horizontally-scrolling design, which seemed like a cool idea at the time, but it proved to come with a bunch of issues, the biggest of which was its relative incompatibility to smaller displays.
Nevertheless, it made extensive use of jQuery animations, transitions and dynamic content loading and served me well for a few years.
